Free resources for the classroom
Some things in life are free! On this page we will provide you with some extra free resources which will support and enhance the language learning you do in Snacks. These pages will be updated regularly so keep checking for new resources.
Word chains (food & drink)
This resource gives you three sets of cards. Each card has two words on it - one in French and a different one in English. Hand out the cards so every child in the class has at least one. Pick a French word off a card to start the chain. The child with that word shouts it out and then reads the English word on his/her card. The child with the French translation of that word shouts it out and then says the English words on his/her card. Work against the clock! Or challenge the children to get themselves into a line in the right order.
School dinner menus
If you have been learning the words for food and drink in Snacks you might like to show your class these menus - they are translations of real school dinner menus! Children will be able to spot words they have already learnt, but you can also use them to help develop children's language detective skills. How many cognates can they spot? And can you spot the fish fingers?! There are two versions - one written in ordinary font and one in French script for that authentic look. Good for a display!
